General Consultancy and Project/Studies Practice Area

Sherman & Sherman has diversified from the traditional services Liberian law firms provide representation of clients at courts and administration agencies. The diversification has been enhanced by the many requests by foreign lawyers, international multi-lateral financial organizations, foreign embassies out of Liberia and non-resident domestic corporations for legal opinions and advice on Liberian law, investment opportunities in Liberia, and economic and social news about Liberia.

Another area in which Sherman & Sherman has diversified into is conducting studies on Liberian law, opportunities and possibilities in Liberia, and participating in preparing business or investment plans. It is for this new area of service that Sherman & Sherman is in collaboration with four other Liberia firms in the fields of investment consultancy, economic and social consultancy and accounting and auditing consultancy.

A significant amount of work for Sherman & Sherman comes over the internet; and the tasks consists of legal consultancies ranging from legal advice or opinion on the status of Liberian law, organization of Liberian companies, advice on investment opportunities, review of transaction documents and the issuance of legal opinion on the validity and enforceability of transaction documents or specific provisions (governing law, jurisdiction, dispute resolution clauses), etc.

Another area of work is where foreign law firms and international organizations request Sherman & Sherman to collaborate with them in matters involving projects in Liberia for their clients or customers; and in each of such instances, the task could involve studies, drafting of transaction documents, study of transaction documents to determine compliance with Liberian law, and validity and enforceability issues.
